Church at the Weedy Duck Pond

Lo @BrawlerCo inquires on Gab,

@FullArmorFarm does your family go to church? We have been wrestling with it as it is hard with small children and you have to compromise on so much as most churchs are largely subverted to the ways of this world.

Full Armor Farm @FullArmorFarm,

@BrawlerCo we home church. It is allot easier with four little ones, we are usually done with service before most families wake up.. bunch of early risers in this house haha.

We had a church that was absolutely awesome when we lived in Chesapeake, VA. We moved back to Maine after we retired from the Marines and did start going to a local church. We ended up leaving that church due to wolves feeding on the flock (while the pastor watched). It was an easy decision to break contact once we knew the pastor was aware and unwilling to make hard leadership decisions. Had to protect my family from that.

Pray you find an answer.

Lo @BrawlerCo,

@FullArmorFarm I like that idea very much. Being in Maine creates an extra hurdle to finding a church actually following The Bible. While there is great need for evangelism here it sure feels dark at times being around so many lost souls compared to being in the south. I grew up here but we too traveled with the military and I didn't particularly love being in the south at the time there are sure things I miss about it since coming back home.

Personal question so I understand if you don't want to share but how will you or how have you approached baptism?

Full Armor Farm @FullArmorFarm,

@BrawlerCo my wife and I were baptized when we were still stationed in VA Beach..but for our children when they are older and understand the full weight… Been praying on this for a while and I think I’ll end up baptizing my own children in our farm pond. We do have future plans to do an on farm baptism event for others who want to come but we would have a pastor preform those. Hope that answers your question.

Lo @BrawlerCo,

@FullArmorFarm thank you, that is exactly what we are leaning into as well, baptism by their father, maybe not in this duck weedy farm pond but who knows.. not necessarily validating I would say but sometimes it is comforting to know of others making similar choices when you spend 99.9% of your time swimming against the current..

Full Armor Farm @FullArmorFarm,

@BrawlerCo a weedy duck pond sounds of some great memories. As Christians, if we are walking the narrow path, we will always be swimming up stream.

Just the same as being placed in Maine… think of it as being a light house strategically placed on a cliff side overlooking a shallow rocky bay. Storms are frequent, long and devastating. Shine your light through the darkness, pointing in all you do to Christ Jesus. Christ gives us strength in the storm, and we come out stronger from it.
