Knowledge weakens and strengthens. The knowledge of the weak is puffed up, lacking understanding, and without love. You may know certain basic facts, but how you apply and express these facts in a given situation, is the question and test.
1 Corinthians 8:1 KJV Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
If the application is amiss, knowledge is incomplete.
1 Corinthians 8:2 KJV And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
The knowledge of the strong understands how to address any given situation in a manner that continually expresses and maintains love for God and neighbor. This knowledge is complete.
A wise man once said,
“People do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
The knowledge of God does not beat up (abuse) our fellow man. It builds up our fellow man.
1 Corinthians 8:11 KJV And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
1 Corinthians 8:12 KJV But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
If you sin against Christ, you sin against the LORD.
The New Testament Greek title “Lord” (Kurious) is synonymous with the Old Testament Hebrew title “LORD” ( Yahweh). Our Lord Jesus Christ (Son of God) is the Supreme Authority. GOD is the Supreme Divinity (Godhead) consisting of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Supreme Divinity must be the Supreme Authority; therefore, this combined Supremacy is One.
1 Corinthians 8:6 KJV But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
