Most cities on the planet today have a qualified, ordained elder in Christ. This is powerful testimony, to the power of the gospel and the Church.

Some have attempted to interpret this as the prohibition of polygamy for the qualification of an elder in a church. I believe it goes further to include no previous divorces. As for the children, this clearly means juvenile children who reside in your home.

Filthy lucre alone has disqualified many from eldership. I have been preaching the gospel for nearly 32 years, most without a single dime, while tithing at the same time. Within the last few years, as I have dedicated my time more in a full-time capacity for the ministry, I have opened the door to receiving support, but if I had to depend on such support alone, I would have starved, been bankrupt, and destitute. Therefore, I do not beg for it, nor depend on it.
Also, I do not envy the hireling.
Titus 1:7 KJV For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
If you are a church elder, you cannot hate people, you must be hospitable, and it does not require extroversion.
Titus 1:8 KJV But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
Sound doctrine includes that which is not pleasing or comfortable to the flesh. No one likes the dentist until their teeth are rotting and filled with pain.

We were warned about the Jews (circumcision) and their lust for filthy lucre. I suppose Paul, a Jew, was an antisemite too for warning us. The “specially” part means they are not the only ones.

Christians are called to sharply rebuke the Jews with the truth of the Gospel, not subscribe to their fables, and then call others antisemites who do not.
Titus 1:13 KJV This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
Titus 1:14 KJV Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
Just because a Jew or Christian says they know God does not mean they are of God. The devils know God.

If you want to understand the difference between Christians who are politically swayed by the antichrist fears of men and Christians who are spiritually swayed by the Spirit of God, understand the difference between Caleb and many of his brethren (fellow Christians). The difference is that Caleb wholly followed the LORD, which left zero room for compromise.

If we are to overcome the antichrist giants of our day, our heart as a nation must be wholly committed to the LORD.

If those who call themselves believers and the chosen refuse God’s word, the heathen will preach, or the stones will cry out. Sometimes you will agree more with an enemy than with a fellow church member who is not in God’s will, as Jeremiah did with a Babylonian officer.
Jeremiah 40:2 KJV And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
