Gospilled Minute #216
There is one God, who is one King. Therefore, if Christ is King, Jesus is God.
Psalms 47:7 KJV For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
Faith is a precious gift of righteousness from God through our Lord Jesus Christ, graciously received, not earned through our own merit or works.
2 Peter 1:1 KJV Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
Romans 5:17 KJV For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
The evidence of true faith received from God is the fruit of virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love, which stand in opposition to pride, bitterness, envy, and hatred.
2 Peter 1:5 KJV And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
2 Peter 1:6 KJV And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
2 Peter 1:7 KJV And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
2 Peter 1:8 KJV For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Never forget where you came from or what you have been saved from.
2 Peter 1:9 KJV But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
2 Peter 1:10 KJV Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
Repetition is a great schoolmaster, which is why we do not read through the Bible just once.
2 Peter 1:12 KJV Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
Gospilled Minute #217
I believe in the eyewitness testimony of the prophets and apostles, recorded in the 66-book canon of the Old and New Testaments. The 27-book canon of the New Testament is universally accepted by Christendom, whereas the 39-book canon of the Old Testament is debated due to questions about whether the Apocrypha is inspired Scripture. Early Jews during the time of Christ, as well as Josephus, did not accept the Apocrypha as canonical, and much of the church today, including myself, shares this view, even though the Apocrypha was quoted by early church fathers and occasionally referenced in the New Testament itself.
2 Peter 1:16 KJV For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
The Holy Spirit has established and determined the canon of Scripture we have today, not the councils and traditions of men.
2 Peter 1:19 KJV We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
2 Peter 1:20 KJV Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2 Peter 1:21 KJV For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Non-Catholic/Orthodox:
2 + 2 = 4
Catholic/Orthodox:
Prots! They all have their own interpretation!
Dear Catholic and Orthodox friends, either the Spirit of God interprets the truth, or there is no interpretation at all, regardless of the traditions, councils, and will of men.
2 Peter 1:20 KJV Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2 Peter 1:21 KJV For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Saul and Israel faced an overwhelming Philistine force poised for imminent attack, which instilled great fear in the people. This fear prompted Saul to take matters into his own hands, offering a burnt offering himself instead of waiting for Samuel as instructed after the seven-day period. How often do we, like Saul, act according to our own timing rather than waiting on the Lord? This tendency to rely on our own solutions remains a frequent challenge for many.
1 Samuel 13:5 KJV And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven.
1 Samuel 13:6 KJV When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.
1 Samuel 13:8 KJV And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.
1 Samuel 13:9 KJV And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
Due to the influence of dispensationalism and other erroneous doctrines, many Christians struggle to accept that the glory of the LORD has departed from earthly Jerusalem. Simply stated, if Jesus Christ is not enthroned there, neither does the glory of the LORD abide in such a place, despite its history.
Ezekiel 10:18 KJV Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.
Father, we bow before Your throne with praise and thanksgiving. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
